What is LDP?
The Leadership Development Pathway (LDP) is promoted through your rugby club, is a structured programme designed to help members develop their skills, knowledge, and confidence needed to take on leadership roles within the game.
Participants usually follow one of two routes, the Coaching pathway for those interested in becoming a rugby coach. Then the refereeing pathway for those interested in becoming a match official.
Benefits of LDP
Improving Skills
Develop leadership and communication skills, all while building confidence both on and off the pitch.
Recognised Qualifications
Work towards and bridging award and gain recognised coaching or refereeing qualifications.
Future Opportunities
Support the growth of rugby within the club and community, and create clear progression opportunities for volunteers.

Register you
Interest
Visit the registration page on this website and register your interest before the deadline.
Information and
Interview Evening
Attend the information evening, and if your new to LDP attend an interview.
Practical
Modules
There are 5 modules that you will learn throughout the season, this will include some homework / assignments to be completed.
Run Hands on Masterclasses
This is where you will put into practice what you have learnt. You will run sessions with young players from the local area.
Celebration
Day
Each season once you have completed your pathway, we will celebrate by attending a premiership rugby club. In the last two seasons, it’s been Northampton Saints.
Hands on
Opportunities
At the end of the pathway you will have the opportunity to put your new skills into practice. Either refereeing at tournaments, coaching in schools or coaching at your club.

Masterclasses
across the season
Following the event, we ensure post-event follow-ups with interested delegates, transforming initial connections into high-quality leads.
Celebration Day at Northampton Saints
Spent the day at Northampton Saints meeting players, taking a tour of the stadium and watching the training. A great day out!
Schools Sports Leadership Day
8 of or LDP members from both coaching and refereeing attended a sports leadership day running training sessions.
Community Day at Saints
We had the opportunity to present to a number of grass routes rugby clubs across the region at the Northampton Community Day.
