Empowering Leaders: LDP is a programme to develop young people’s leadership skills through rugby.
What are we trying to achieve?
The LDP looks to provide the community and club with future leaders, coaches, referees and volunteers by providing pathways similar to the DoE. It equips young people of all diversities and mental abilities with the skills to become effective leaders in all walks of life – personnel development, confidence, communication and teamwork skills. The skills developed in the rugby environment will be enhanced with community projects and volunteering.

Pathway to the Future!
Leadership not only in the PRUFC is also a necessary skill in the community and the workplace. The LDP provides the first steps to being able to manage a team, organise events and work as a group, leading to effective leadership.
Leadership acts as the guiding light and inspiration during stability and uncertainty. This individual will help the teams stay on course in the wake of setbacks and unintended consequences. After all, it’s not a question of whether the unforeseen will happen but when it will occur. Successful leaders will move forward despite the headwinds.
For Coaches

For Referees
The Referee pathway is designed to equip new budding referees with the key skills and knowledge they will need to be able to referee grassroots rugby safely and effectively. The pathway comprises of courses, practical experiences in the Laws of the Game and face to face training.
The LDP is looking to build the next generation of Match Officials. Start your journey to becoming a future-ready coach today by registering with the LDP.
How does it work?
The pathways are for both boys and girls from the U14 age group to the U18s.
Each participant will be working within one of three pathways, leadership, coaching, or refereeing, and depending on age, will either be working towards their bronze, silver, or gold awards. Those that are over 16 and have completed their awards will become LDP mentors supporting the younger age groups while also receiving awards in mentoring others.
A place where you can achieve!
The LDP participants will be attending RFU-registered courses throughout the season, with additional courses provided by other local rugby-related constituent bodies.
There will be regular masterclasses performed by the club supported by independent sessions in conjunction with independant providers and Northampton Saints.
If participants are also engaged with BTEC GCSE PE or DofE, the volunteering in this award dovetails into both of GSCE and DofE; therefore, overlapping activities/volunteering fulfill all disciplines.
